I have worked with Alyson Reed of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA) for 15 years in various ways pertaining to my several roles with the Society (e.g. in my service as editor, as committee chair, and as LSA President, among others). Moreover, I can also compare her to other LSA Executive Directors (EDs) with whom I worked. I can say without the slightest hesitation that she was by far the most able, the most knowledgeable, and the most dedicated of any of the EDs I have known. Her command of the range of issues facing the Society was most impressive and I marveled at her ability to see the different facets of these issues and to come up with creative but practical solutions to problems. She is smart, hard-working, and sharp on budgetary matters. In short, she is simply terrific at what she does and would make a fine manager in any walk of life!
