2015 Linguistic Society of America Conference

Familiar with all aspects of conference planning, including:

  • Marketing and promotion to attract maximum attendance and drive revenue.
  • Coordination of virtual and hybrid-format technical solutions.
  • Contracting with hotels and meeting space facilities, audio-visual providers, sign-language interpretation, exhibit hall vendors, catering services and related support professionals.
  • Coordination of presenters, exhibitors, A-V technicians and other key conference personnel, including volunteers.
  • Handling arrangements for special events, including Board meetings, business meetings, award ceremonies, networking and mentoring sessions, receptions and banquets.
  • Preparation of meeting materials and interfaces (online, apps, and hard copy), including registration, session proposals, abstract submissions, nominations, and related items.

I worked alongside Alyson Reed, serving in several organizational roles in our professional society while she was executive director. This included my service as Chair of the LSA’s Program Committee, which organizes our annual conference for over 1000 attendees. She is one of the most confidence-inspiring people I have ever met; embodying responsibility, trustworthiness, competence and foresight. She shepherded our society through some very challenging moments, and we are in a much better position today because of her commitment and ability.
